Don’t judge.
& heartburn sometime after I hit 26.
I know, I know. I’m a grumpy ol’ bitty with a sensitive GI tract.
But I accept this about myself & embrace it.
& the mystical, magical concoction that is a Purple Hooter shooter.
Whiskey Sours
Whiskey, sugar, lemon juice, club soda, ice & a maraschino cherry to step up the fancy.
That’s it.
The Whiskey
Although my favorite kind of whiskey is a little known brand called Red Breast, it’s also $68 a bottle so there’s no way I’m adding lemon juice to it. I think my heart would turn a little blacker if I ever saw someone doing that to Red Breast…
So for this recipe I used Jameson Irish Whiskey because quite frankly, I had a coupon for it & it’s never done me wrong in the past.
Again, don’t judge me or my coupons.
Just to put this out there, in no way have any of these companies endorsed this blog, I just happen to have used them.
Any whiskey will do, it just depends on your preference.
A good little tip for everyone out there: 2 oz of alcohol is approximately the same as 1 normal shot glass. And really, if it’s a little more, no one is going to mind one bit. I promise 🙂
The Lemon Juice
We are already drinking on a Monday, people…we don’t have to be animals about it, too.
The Sugar
Add a tablespoon of sugar to the mix & stir to dissolve. I started by adding a little sugar at a time because I wanted to control the sweetness, but I ended up adding a whole tablespoon!
That lemon was NO JOKE.
The Club Soda
Add a splash of club soda to cut the harshness of lemon & whiskey…& the extra fizz doesn’t hurt 🙂
The Fancy
Add a little ice, a little cherry & there you go.
A very retro-looking, very simple, very relaxing cocktail.
Enjoy!!
